Greek artists and organizations have achieved remarkable success in securing funding from the third round of the European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists (EFFEA). The EFFEA grants will support 57 artists (individuals or collectives) and 159 festivals from 35 countries, working across 18 artistic disciplines. The 57 projects were selected in two categories of residencies, Discovery and Springboard, receiving respectively €8,000 and €15,000. Throughout Europe and beyond, artists and festivals will work on their residency programs between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025.

Greece Ranks Third in EFFEA Funding

Greece emerged as the third-highest recipient of EFFEA grants, demonstrating the exceptional talent and creativity of Greek artists. This achievement highlights the country’s vibrant arts scene and its commitment to nurturing emerging talent.

EFFEA: Fostering Emerging Artists on the International Stage

EFFEA, an initiative of the European Festival Association (EFA), offers emerging artists a platform to develop their careers on an international level under the patronage of arts festivals. The program encourages cross-border collaboration between festivals to support emerging artists. Co-produced by a leading festival in partnership with partner festivals from different eligible countries, each residency provides emerging artists with dedicated time, space, and support to explore their ideas and creative projects, whether original works or the evolution of existing ones.

Building Lasting Connections

Within this framework, artists forge close ties with festival programmers, emphasizing a commitment beyond a single presentation. The goal is to establish lasting and meaningful connections between artists, festivals, and audiences. EFA hopes that the opportunities and activities offered through EFFEA residencies will assist artists in launching their international careers with the expertise and exposure platform provided by European festivals. Festivals will develop and nurture a network of colleagues with shared visions, which hopefully will lead to long-term co-production relationships.

Detailed Information and Upcoming Opportunities

A detailed description of each residency proposal, the artists, and the festivals involved will soon be available on the EFFEA website, which already features the EFFEA artists and festivals supported by the first and second calls.
